      yes it could melt your gpu into a little pile of mush and destroy your PC, but luckily there is a fix.

      Didn't this happen like 6 months ago with the beta or something? And the drivers still aren't fixed?

      indeed, looks like the issue was never fixed. The 'fix' they talk about there is one that was posted during the BETA.
