Competitive play has always been a logistical nightmare for BFB even though we have had some success when playing these type of games.

And the biggest problem is that we are a commuinity or however you want to label it which is based more around running around like a bunch of ****s on a server and just having a good laugh.

I suppose it differes to a clan in respect to that BFB does not recruit members based on ability. If you take this into account then this is only the tip of the iceberg. IF BFB was a clan that only recruited 10 members who needed a KDR of 1.5 or over things would be an open and shut case.

But it not and anyone can play using the BFB tag regardless of ability. Like any other gaming community you have tier of players based on ability ranging from good to bad. Also factor into account that you have about 20-30 members who would be up for it and when there is only 8 places available the headaches start.

I am more than confident that you know all the perils of clan gaming Max. but when you have a commuinity which is based on fun and people either not getting the playtime they think they deserve or players requesting more gametime than they deserve once they been told they are not in the game they take it personally. And because they have spent so much time on this forum being told it all about laughs and not based on ability and then excluded from clan games then they feel it is a reflection on their playing ability.

And from first hand experience you have seen how easy it is to dominate an all BFB side in BC2. You have seen it these past few nights while playing. I remember a time when BFB squadplay/teamwork was at it peak in 2142. It is nowhere close to that now. And that not because of different players to what we had then or the ability of players compared to then. It about the game mechanics of 2142 compared to BC2. If this was 2142 we would have a good chance if all the boys were playing. But in BC2 we would get creamed even with the help of players like yourself, ice etc.

You still have the good players from the 2142 days like Reaps, trash, weets etc And you still have the ticket bleeders like myself, bully etc. Nothing has changed just the game mechanics.

It maybe difficut for you to understand as you were the number 1 team in Denmark as a clan while we were more concerned running around the servers like headless chickens on amphetamines.

The harsh reality is that are plenty of players who would love competitive play but realistically would never get picked due to their playing ability when entering cup competitions with the premise of getting as far as possible or possibly getting a top 3 finish.

Irrespective of this whether you decide to join BFB or not whether you agree with this post or not you are always welcome to play. The RTFN clan play at a high skill level and your server conduct has nothing be short of excellent.

As for the competitive side of things, we never have and never will be a clan. We've entered ladders in the past, but there was no team selection. Basically, the people who put their names down first were the people who played, even if they weren't the best players available. We're a fun-based community, and so no member will ever be told they can't participate because they aren't good enough.
Good thing too, or else I would never play anything...although I think I am the best WoW player on here...mostly because no one else plays!!

I like this idea - the more, the merrier!

However I have to agree with redders when it comes to competitive play; too many people will potentially be left out and it's not healthy for a community like us to get really involved in competitions as this could easily upset the balance we have between serious and fun. Ultimately we are all out there to have a great time, but with competitive play this will not always be the case.

If we could get some mildly competitive play going such as the CoD 4 ladder that some of the guys entered, I think it could be enjoyable and even on a first-come, first-serve basis it could be successful. The CoD players seemed to do quite well until the organisation went a bit tits-up due to people losing interest (I think that's what happened anyway), but like I said if we did something like this for BC2 we'd probably enjoy it.

Finally, I'm sure everyone here would welcome you to make BFB your new home, and have fun on the servers!

Id really like to see a competitive side to BFB again. But you have to be careful and gauge the interest. Make sure there is one or two committed people who do more or less all the organisational work and will form the basis of the team. This will also mean these one or two people can duck out of games if there is increased interest without feeling left out.
It is also very important for everyone who has stated an interest is to realise an understand the fact they have to put just a little bit of effort in. To make sure the organisational bitches know if they can or cant play preferable at least a few days before a match or training. DONT just think "Oh they will find someone else to replace me, I don't feel like playing" if everyone thought like that there would never be a team......
