BC2 Sound - what do you use?

I've always left my sound on the normal settings until today. I put it down from Hifi to 'War Tapes' its epic.

A lot of re-verb though is the only problem, has anyone else used this setting? Everything sounds amazing its just theres a lot of echo in buildings etc.

Ooh I didn't even know there was a different option! I'll have to try it in a while.

Also, just wondering how sound is... err... processed(?) in BC2. I heard someone say it uses the CPU which is why it needs a Dual Core as a minimum, so is my sound card currently rendered useless?

I *think* that the dual core minimum is due to the effects, because apparantly the smoke/snow doesn't change on low detail and obviously the physics. So i'd guess your sound card isnt useless
Peronsally I use Hi-Fi as i have a subwoofer, but maybe war tapes is worth a try

nicky you are right, the sound is software handled. I have seen several site that recommend reducing the sound quality to make the game smoother. I did this and really dont hear a difference myself. I use a razer barracuda ac-1 sound card with the razer HP-1 5.1 headset.

sound is the reason for the dual core. I use home theater with medium quality.

Oh dear Lord - I am playing with the "War tape" mode now and just wow.

It's very hard to hear TS, or hear people's footsteps etc. But the game feels so much more immersive now - echoes, revirbs, noise, noise, noise!

Been using War Tapes this morning, it's great! I love the accented explosion sounds and gun noises, although to be honest I don't really think it's that much different from any of the other settings. They're all pretty subtle changes.
