Battlefield: Bad company 2 - Adverts, Steam 4 pack, Map packs and DLC

Last week 2 maps were announced as DLC on day 1 for Battlefield Bad Company 2. The two maps were Nelson Bay (Rush Map), and Laguna Alta (Conquest Map). Further information has been released as to what DLC will be available a few weeks after launch.

Your probably thinking why release them as day one DLC if they are already finished/ even on XBOX and PS3 game discs? This is part of EAs effort to promote people buying new games and discourage from buying second hand. Once the content has been used (1 x) the code is no longer valid and second-hand users can only get access to the maps by buying them again!

Bad Company 2 will get a second wave of DLC (Downloadable Content) sometime near the end of March. The new DLC store will feature 1 specialization for each class, as well as a second map pack. The specialization’s are unique uniforms and camouflage weapons that can be used on the Battlefield in Bad Company 2’s MultiPlayer. We will be able to purchase all 4 new specs as a bundle, or buy them one by one as they please. It is expected to be a bit cheaper to buy the bulk package, rather than buying them all one by one.

Specializations DLC: (Pay)

* Assault: Unique camouflaged M16A2 and matching camo’s.
* Engineer: Unique camouflaged UMP-45 and matching camo’s.
* Medic: Unique camouflaged MG3 and matching camo’s
* Recon: Unique Camouflaged M95 and matching camo’s

**The Spec DLC also includes 3 new awards and one Achievement.

Map Pack 2 DLC: (Free)

* Arica Harbour gets new life with a addition of Conquest Mode.
* Laguna Presa gets enhanced with Rush Mode.

I for one wont be waiting for this, prefer to pay the "early adopters premium" as im already running out of things to do since the beta ended!

Also has anyone noticed that in the day 1 map pack video that the medic is using an assault rifle...mmm very early alpha footage or maybe the medic's gonna get some more useable weapons?

looks like the m14 one of the 2 assualt rifles that available for all classes

Cool, can't wait for the heavy hitting assault rifles (G3 and M14) it's like the Baur all over again woop woop!

It all looks good, but imo it's taking the piss to expect people to pay for DLC for a game that has just been released. I'll probably buy it anyway, as long as it's not stupid money.

All the payed DLC adds are cammo packs? or are the guns for which the unique cammo's are added not the of retail game?

The 1st DLC is free according to this website:

...Day 1 map pack that is available to all players who purchase the game and apply their VIP code which comes with the game at no extra charge.

....VIP codes are included in the box for all new purchases. Players that buy used versions and don't have a code can purchase one via the in-game store for $15. PC players will get the content as a game update.

Sounds like that only applies to the map pack. You'll still have to pay for the specialisation pack if you want it.

DLC map pack 1 and 2 are free after that all DLC must be paid for thou ther might be other offers for vip holders

Can't wait to get this game, apparently I can start downloading tomorrow But I reckon it's going to to take like all day to download Maybe I can get up mega early on friday to play before work!
