Battlefield 3 won't support Windows XP

I guess it's slowly time to move on, but many MANY people still use it. It seems that the new Frostbite 2.0 engine will be DirectX 10 and 11 exclusive, meaning no DX9 or Windows XP support.
A DICE developer Johan Andersson has tweeted: 'Frostbite 2 is primarily developed for DX11. XP & DX9 is _not_ supported, 64-bit OS is recommended. Lots of time to upgrade if you havent!' Oh well. Windows XP is almost ten years old now, expect this more and more.

seems odd they abandone DX9, when they will be releasing this on the aging playstation 3 and xbox ( which are 4 years + old now, god time flys )

Sod what operating system it supports I wanna know if it's gonna be any good! 64+players and jets and choppers and nades and ammo packs and dolphin diving medics and choppers and jets.

Scary though now most of us really started gaming on XP, she was a naggly little bitch but she got us there.

    RIP XP

If it supports 64 players+ I'll be happy, probably not 96/128 players yet though?

    Imagine the nade spams!

i read some blurb from the devs that say it defo will support 64 players on the pc version only.

I'll see if i can dig it out as it was a couple of months ago i read it.

This is all i can find at the mo but i will keep digging :

Personally i think it's good that they are blanking dx9 and XP. it's time to get better and proper support for the newer standards. No one complains when a new console comes out every 5 years! in fact the fan boys all jump about and get exited and dampen their nappies at the idea so why are peeps getting all upset about xp after a decade?

Windows Xp Release date — October 25, 2001 Move on !!!!!!!!

Yea XP is old. Anyone still using it is using a old system that probably would not run BF3 anyway.

    Thanks Rum.

This means I can use BF3 as an excuse to upgrade my GTX275 to maybe a GTX560 or whatever is riding with the ladies at the time of release.

I started on the ZX81 with 1k of memory and managed to program space invaders from that. Cutting edge back then.

Hmm i wonder what 6gig of ram would have cost you back then hehe. probably millions or billions even
