    Bad Company 2 Screens.

Been playing the single player of this. I got to admit it's very very good. I didn't really get on with the multiplayer side of BC2 but this mode I just love to bits.

Previously in Battlefield games you just got a map with loads of bots on it with no storyline or cutscenes. But they have did a good job of it this time considering it part of the battlefield franchise.

While the storyline will not break any new ground at least there is some sort of objective compared to previous incarnations.

The Graphics are simply amazing. while it might not match up to Crysis it certainly one of the better looking games in recent game outings. However having said this there is a Fog of War beyond a certain point while it's not a hinderance to the gameplay when the scene gets heavy with dust, explosions, bullets etc it does make picking out enemies a little harder although having said that you will be under fire so much you wil hardly notice it it only when moving about the objectives that it might get annoying. I am sure their will be some tweak to alter this but I fear it will be at the sacrifice at the hands of performance.

For the most part it runs as good as it looks although peoples experience might vary from setup to setup.

If Crysis is the pinnacle of current gaming graphical eyecandy then Bad company 2 is a tour de force on the audio senses. It's the best current game soundwise I have heard athough this is more subjective more than anything else.

I took some screenies to whet your appetite. The first mission is set in the pacific in the era of WW2. This suprised me tbh and from then on afterwards it switches to modern day. I am not sure of the relevance of the first mission being WW2 unless it a taste of things to come in BF 1943.

    Here are the screens.

It then switches to modern day.

Ah, looks like someone's been torrenting

Nice action shots there, the graphics are stunning and the textures look super-high res. Very impressive! If the BC1 campaign is anything to go by, this should be great fun. Gonna put this on tonight and give my verdict in the morning/afternoon.

Those screens look great. I was a little concerned when I saw the WWII screens, so glad it's only a one off mission.

I'm not going to bother downloading this, my copy will arrive in a few days.

I downloaded this last night, been playing it for the last hour or so. It's fantastic, really good action and as redders says, the sounds are amazing, especially due to how it creates an atmosphere. Really impressed so far

Oh and performance wise it's very stable - I've been running it maxed out with 16xAF and 2xAA on an E8200 and GTX 260. The AA makes it ever so slightly laggy now and then but at 1x it all runs completely smoothly. Anyone out there with a newer rig should be able to whack the AA up no problem. And even with no AA I haven't really noticed too many jaggies since the effects and shaders and all that jazz are just so good!

What is your rig/ what settings were you running at? Did you change the dxversion yourself?

I had to turn down graphics settings to "medium" to make it playable at 1920 x 1200:

    Attachment 325Attachment 326Attachment 327Attachment 328Attachment 329Attachment 330Attachment 331Attachment 332Attachment 333Attachment 334

    Rig:
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 750 @ 3.32 GHz
    4GB (2x2GB) Corsair Dominator DDR3, PC3-12800 (1600)
    1GB XFX HD 5850 Black, PCI-E 2.0(x16), 4000MHz GDDR5, GPU 765MHz

You think i should OC the graphics card/ CPU further to get further gains?

1mm3>I am running this on my torrenting pc which is a 9550@4ghz, 4gb ram and a 5870. My settings were at 2560x1600 2aa and 16AF. HBAO was off. The settings were high and I just let it run under dx11. You can alter this in the config file if you want to run a specific dx mode or want to try and gain extra performance.

The gfx card would be the easier option although having said that I had equally good performance runnng on a 5770 and a 280 gtx. I am not sure what version of catalyst you are running and wonder if that would help if you are getting performance issues. I was using the catalyst 10.3 betas.

As to whether you should overclock that is a persoanl choice. when testing the beta I found that gfx card overclocking did a small performance increase but the real benefits came from the quad core users over the dual core users and if it was clocked high. But I mean it still very early days and I am sure that subsequent patches would help performance.

I have yet to test this on my i7 setup so can't compare really on my how my setup compares to yours as your setup as similar in performance I would hazard a guess to my i7 setup which is usally my primary gaming setup.

So what is the issue? low frame rates or stuttery game play?

Seriously?! My rig is nothing compared to yours, and I play it maxed out at 1920x1200. Maybe I'm on DX9 or something, but I couldn't see an option to change the DX version.

I guess DX10 will make it run like poo then on my rig!
