Installing Windows from a memory stick

My friend's netbook is absolutely virus-ridden and basically doesn't run properly at all. So, I thought the best idea for it is to just format it and reinstall Windows XP as he has nothing important on there. And you can't even get a virus scanner to work properly in safe mode.

However, being a netbook, it has no DVD drive. Now I know Saundie has done this so it is possible, does anyone know how I could reinstall Windows without using a DVD?

The tool I now use to create these USB installation drives is WinSetupFromUSB, though the link Weets posted is all good too.

Using that tool and various other magic I have a USB hard drive from which I can install XP x64\x86, Server 2003 Standard & Enterprise x64\x86, Vista Home Premium, Business and Ultimate x64\x86, Server 2008 Standard & Enterprise x64\x86, 7 Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate x64\x86 and Server 2008 R2 Standard & Enterprise. It's pretty handy

Where do you get all your ISO's from, Saundie?

I have an XP ISO, but I just realised it's... uhh, dodgy... and I'd much prefer to get a plain, original XP Home ISO if possible so that I can use an original license key that my friend already has.

I had a subscription for MSDN, so I was able to obtain the ISOs for pretty much everything Microsoft released up until December last year. If you like, I can upload the ISO for XP Home to Rapidshare so that you can be sure it's clean.

There is no x64 version of XP Home

I'll PM you the links once the upload has finished.
