Laxe do you have a jessops near you or an equivalent? I reccomend you have a wander in and see if they have any f these ones you are looking at and see if they will let you try one out. I think that will be a good way for you to decide what you want

The GF1 looks quite good, one thing to make sure is that if you ever think you might upgrade to a big fany one that the lenses carry through

If you are looking for a new sig ill give it a go

If you are worried bout size then best bet is as haggis says wander into a Jessops and have a look see and feel of the cameras your mentioning.
Noticed though you are trying not to go down the proper DSLR route yet tho lol

dslr's are only as good as the lenses, and good lenses are expensive. However there are lenses that are acceptable and available on a budget. I myself got a canon 450d about 18 months ago and have 3 different lenses covering a Varity of focal lengths (well most common focal lengths anyway). And I never spent more than £80 on a lenses and if you work out there strengths you can use them to produce some good pictures. The body of the camera is not that big but the lenses can be. If you don't mind spending £500 I recommend getting a dslr and a half decent lense, try getting one second hand off ebay. If your not willing to spend the money just get a cheaper bridge camera for £250 or less which has plenty of manual controls, just realise that the picture quality will never be as good as a dslr with a good lense.

But what ever you do make sure you actual sit down and think what you will take pictures of and when/how often and decide weather it really is worth buying and if it's what you really need.

    Canon G10! http://www.canon.co.uk/g11accessorycashback/index.asp

I have the G9 and it's great. Superb pictures, compact compared to dslr and easy to use with all the manual settings!

Bah! If I can get near 'proper' DSLR quality with the smaller models then I'll be happy! The size is a huge turn off for me as you know.

Cheers for the input Vimes and Wormy. I'll check out the G11 and its price etc. With that cashback it's quite tempting providing it's not astronomically expensive lol! I don't think I want a Bridge Camera though Vimes cos from what I've heard they are no where near as good in the higher ISO ranges than the DSLRs which matters a lot since I'm certain a good percentage of my shots will be taken indoors with average lighting but not dark enough for a flash etc.

Found a few video reviews on youtube including this one:

The guy seems to like it lol!

EDIT: Review from the same guy. Compares shots to his M9 which considering is 100x more expensive than the GF1 is crazy lol!
