New PC things!!!

OK i got bored here in Italy soo i was thinking of my old PC and its GT8600 and it is time for new graphic card and processor:GTS250 and AMD Phenom II X4 945 Quad-Core 3.0GHz soo what do you think???
I need to play games like Bad Company 2 on high or medium settings
MW2,MASS EFFECT2 and new games to come Black Ops,Medel of Honer and other
soo what do you say
graphic card can be up too 200euros
do i buy GTS 250 or do i buy some other **** and do i buy 1or 2 graphic card
i will get 4GB RAM soon but i need new graphic card and processor and yeah do i get 512 or 1GB card
please help me!!!

for a gaming rig these days don't buy a card with less than an 1gig RAM on it.

I am not going to get into the ATI/Nvidia debate, but right now i recommend ATI cards.

yeah my last purchase was a Nvida and I always bought nivida but my bro got a ATI and at the mo they seem like the best buy

At the moment the ATI cards seem to be the best value for money.

Do not get a GTS 250, that's really outdated now and there are much better cards on the market. My GTX 260 still runs BC2 on high settings but I can't see it lasting much longer when newer games come out.

Personally I would get an ATI 5770. They go for about £120-150 over here, which is roughly 150-180 Euros.

An ATI 5850 would be even better, but that would set you back about 270 Euros I expect.

What motherboard and PSU do you have at the moment?

i would say go for a 5850 with a non standard cooler. This is a sweet card XFX HD 5858 Black

i bought a 5850 about 4 months ago for £212 from misco i think... runs like a dream and allows me to play BC2 at full settings beautifully.

I only have an AMD X2 64 6000+ processor but may upgrade to a Phenom soon(this one is grabbing me... http://computerprices.pricegrabber.c...oduct/sv=title)

To give you a reference point, I have Phenom II X4 @3.1Ghz and a HD 5770 and I can max out Bad Company 2 and Mass Effect 2 with great framerates. The 5770 truly is a great piece of hardware for the price, and it overclocks well too. I thoroughly recommend it if you, like myself, can't afford the premium for a 5850.

You haven't told peeps what res you game at which is the more important question and what gfx card you are currently using.

It's difficult to recommend a card whether ati or nvidia as some games perform better on ati and some on nvidia.

BC 2 benefits more from pure clock speed and the amount of cores you have rather than what gfx card you have. It more cpu dependant. So whether you have a 5770, 280gtx or 5870 there is not that wide a performance spread as you would think.

Whether to get 512mb or 1gb ram card depends on two things. What res you game at and how much AA (anti-aliasing) you apply. If you want to game at 1920x1200 with 8xAA then it would be more advisable to get a 1gb card. Even then this is only a general rule of thumb and depends on how efficiently a game has been programmed.

Take streetfighter 4 for the PC for example. @2560x1600 with 4xAA it only uses 400mb of Vram of a gfx card. While GTA4 will take nearly 2gb.

Most card nowadays even budget ones come as standard with 1gb vram. When I ran 5770 crossfire even then it became a bottleneck as the memory bandwidth of the 5770 is much smaller than say a 280/285/4890/5870 so while it has the horsepower to outperform those cards the memory bandwidth limitation when high AA or high res is applied negates it.

Ok here we go:i dont know what is my motherboard and PSU i will know when i get home from the trip but i play on 1440x900 res max and i will look at the price of 5770,5850 but i think i will go whit 5770 WORLD E CRYSIS is ****ing me soo i dont think i can get 5850 now but i will look the price when i get on a PC and than i will tell you what i think in day or 2
