    MP3 Player....but which one!?

I want an mp3 player and have been scouring around to find a good deal.

Now i can get an ipod nano (16gb) for about £130.....but i'm not a fan of itunes (it's far to intrusive), and so have been looking at a Samsung Q1 (16gb) for about £80.....this i like the look of.

So anyone know of this Q1 and if it's any good? Because i can't see a really good reason to pay an extra £50 for an ipod, as i reckon the samsung is as good.

Please keep in mind my complete lack of knowledge of anything electrical and the fact that i base my opinion on the basics! ^^

i have to agree i am not a lover of itunes but i am a lover of the ipod nano. i have had mine since the first 8gig nano came out and it just keeps on ticking i have dropped it bashed it stood on it, all it has is a few scratches and one dint.

the things that is dif now from the first nano to the new is the screen size and shape which i am not sure if it will affect the riggors i put the original nono through, if it does then you cant go wrong.

as the samsungq1 goes i cant help you as i never heard of it

get an ipod touch, skip the nano. touch has a lot of other great capability such as ereader, games, and good video capability.

Love my nano, don't care about iTunes, it does the job, and you can always use an alternative like Amorok or something anyway you don't have to use iTunes (although it works best).

Nano just works... It is more expensive for sure, but I use mine daily. I even dropped it in the bath last week and it worked fine after a dry out. Take it out running strapped to my arm too. It's the only Apple product I own, and the only one I would endorse

ive owned 2 ipod classics, 1 ipod nano 1g (ran it over with my office chair, broke the screen but it still worked), 1pod shuffle 1st gen, ipod shuffle current gen, ipod touch 1g, iphone 2g, iphone 3gs (mine didnt survive being fed some tea by my 3 year old, lost the back light last week).

I love the ipod for a few reasons, one being the sound that comes out of it...you wont know this unless you upgrade you headphones to a real set (etymotic 4p, hf2 (mine), or a high end pair of shure), the usability, and the durability (i cant even guess the count on how many times i dropped them, dented them scratched them).

http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/default.aspx (you can even get a pair with custom ear molds in the UK.)

I spent more money on my headphones then i did on my ipods, although the iphone cost a bit more.
