    Thanks

Would you recommend holding off the 5770 and see how the 5830 performs? Im happy with the rest of the rig just unsure about the gfx and trying to source a second hand ssd on the cheap.

    That's entirely up to you.

I did read you might need to flash the vapor x cards as some of them have shipped with a bios which makes it underperform. You will need gpu-z to test this.

If you really want a 5770 cheap send me a PM as I have one going. This of course only open to Red team members. Funny enough it's a sapphire as well. Or you can choose the asus voltage tweak one. Up to you sir

On the SSD front if I had to source one now there is only two options I would consider atm to suit my needs. I am not sure which one you are considering but most prices seem to be increasing.

Although I did consider the intel 40gb value model but I would fill that in less than 24 hours so it really not practical for me.

I would guess though the 5830 would perform somewhere in between a 5770 and a 5850. I suppose it would depend on it pricing. if the true price of a 5770 is 120 and a 5850 200 then it would come in at 140-170 mark I would of thought. Of course after price gouging and all kinds of stuff it could end up even more pricier.

I am like you. I trying to hold off on a gfx card change but my willpower is already waning.

    Lol.

Just an update Redders: i never got to read ur post until now! And guess where i made a trip to? You guessed it: Scan, in the spur of the moment i thought f*** it and bought an xfx 5850 black edition (ended up paying way over the odds for it but what the hell) It will allow me to play the games i want at decent settings and that is all that matters to me.. happy compromise in between the 5770 and 5870 in the end.

EDIT: brief look at http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/xfx5850/ shows the card easily overclocks and also has voltage control (unlike standard 5850s) and beats the 5870 in many games once OC'd

    Final spec was:

    Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156)
Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black
    Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2
    4GB (2x2GB) Corsair Dominator DDR3, PC3-12800 (1600)
Titan Fenrir TTC-NK85TZ 120mm PWM 17dBA+ "HDT" CPU Cooler (775/1366/K8/AM2/AM3)
Titan TTC-C10 clip for Intel LGA 1156 for Fenrir TTC-NK85TZ
    1GB XFX HD 5850 Black, PCI-E 2.0(x16), 4000MHz GDDR5, GPU 765MHz, 1440 Cores, DP/ 2x DL DVI-I/ HDMI

    Pics to follow
