    Gaming keyboard recommendations please

No idea whats on the market and my buying has to be mail order.
So its a case of purchasing on recommendations

What Im looking for in a keyboard
Back lit keys, to help reduce eyestrain on dull days and working late at night.
Programmable keys that can be used with bf games
Good for regular day to day use (Im a fairly heavy user, 14hrs a day, 7 days a week, with a lot of internet work), not just a gimmick that gets plugged in to play games

Thanks in advance for any help

I've been using a Logitech G15 keyboard (the later version, not the original). It has 6 programmable "G-Keys" - there are three buttons above these to select the mode for the keys so essentially you get 18 programmable keys in 6.

It has an LCD display as well, which displays your in-game stats whilst playing Battlefield, CoD, etc. and can also display the time & date, CPU & RAM useage, windows media player and a news feed.

It has backlit keys and you can set the light to off, dim or bright. The light is orange so it's pretty easy to see the keys and they are well-lit.

Proper-size keys as well, not this slim-line rubbish that Razer use on some of their keyboards. It's responsive, sturdy and feels well-made. Comfortable too. Also, none of the writing on the keys has worn off, despite over a year of heavy use.

As you can tell, I'd thoroughly recommend it. I bought it based on it's excellent online reviews and it hasn't disappointed at all.

It has been superseded by the G510, which is more-or-less the same keyboard but with more G-Keys and customizable back-lighting colours. Pricey, but worth it: Logitech G510 Gaming Keyboard (920-002762) [920-002762]

Or, if you don't want the LCD you could save some money and get the G110 - exactly the same but without the LCD: Logitech G110 Illuminated Gaming Keyboard (920-002241) [920-002241]

nice feel to keys, non slippy as well . can have no lights or just w,a,s,d lit up or all of it lit. not a bad price for a razer either.

Although the gaming keyboards are pricey, I also have a G15, they are very well built and I've had my own for around 3 years now and still going strong.
Most of the gaming keyboards have programmable keys now, they just tend to feel a bit different with a key press. The G15 is a bit on the stockier feel to the keys and I can't comment on the Razer as never owned 1.
But the G15 does feature an anti windows button where you can flick a switch so if your mistakenly press the windows key it won't minimize you mid game.

Does depend on your budget too but a solid keyboard is worth the money by far.

If I can see you I can hit you.

Never heard about them, they are certainely good looking and comfortable, but just too expensive imo.

I had my G15 rev 1 since 2006 and it's still perfectly working (just my "s" key which is a bit scratched). I could just agree with Nyx and tell you to check the logitech products, and especially the G510 as to me it just looks like an improved G15.

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en...4000/B2M-00012 i have this and i'd just get an led desk light/lamp for night time. comfortable as fook mines lasted 5 years and its just as "responsive" as my old saitek eclipse and mates g19. it is so good i've brought a back up one in case it dies.

Well, i still have a z-board and i do still love it, but, i spent a lot of money upgrading my pc and bought a gaming mouse (Kone+) so surely the one thing most people overlook is their keyboard. Surely this needs replacing/updating at some point, and to have the same lastability of your new PC.

    Seriously- get yourself a mechanical keyboard. I picked up a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate and I'm never going back to standard keyboards. Give this a read;

If you dont want to break the bank the Steelseries 6GV2 is a great no frills mech keyboard. The responsiveness and feedback these things give you is just unreal.
