My Dad had one of the Spectrums, not sure what type, but I remember playing The Hobbit, completely text based, a game about an Evil Postman, and some game where you control some flying/hovering ship with a gun and have to scale levels and shoot turrets.
not sure if you can count this as a rig but the 1st ever gaiming thing i had before the snes was these 2 controlls you plugged into the tv and Pong came uplol rectangle things with sliders on, i ant find them on google sadly

It'll be interesting to see GorkedWings reply to this thread; if I recall correctly, he was gaming on the Colossus in order to "test" it prior to it being put to it's intended use, cracking encrypted messages from the Nazis.
The first desktop PC that I owned was a 386SX with 4MB RAM and a 16 colour display. It sucked even when I got it. The Compaq Deskpro that replaced it had a P2 266, which was a huge step up.
