Cheers Dragon. I've toyed with the idea of RapidShare before but I'm not sure how great a range of downloads is available. I know with newsgroups I am almost guaranteed to find whatever I want, with binsearch.info and a couple of other websites. What's the choice like?

I so far have found no problem finding anything I want. I mostly use google for searching for links: example. You should usually use the cached version of the sites, as some links will be otherwise hidden. You will also need a download manager for quickly being able to manage links and downloads. I use IDM here and am very happy with it...actually bought it. For movies and TV i usually start here before googling (need to register).

Filetube can also be helpful, but as with any of these forums, they are only as good as their contributors. You will find the ones that suit your wants. Me, I am a TV and movie guy, so link talk forum works perfect for almost everything I want. When they dont have the links, I google for them.

I cant really comment on a comparison to newsgroups as I never bothered with them myself.

Just to follow on from Dragons post I also use rapidshare. They have updated their pricing structure now and works out cheaper than before. Around 1 euro per month now! Their servers always max out my connection and I can find almost everything I search for

I use Jdownloader as it automatically logs you in to download, automatically detects the password from the download page AND automatically extracts files for you and deletes the original rars!

I used to previously use torrents and after friends being hit with letters from solicitors acting on behalf of broadcasting/ film companies they downloaded i thought best to pay for a method that the isp wont screw you over and is non trackable by the companies..

For 1 euro a month having movie/ tv/ music/ ebook access at high speed is more than worth it..

Don't bother buying rapidhshare account! Lots of people stopped uploading stuff on RS coz they can't get any points by downloads anymore. What it means is that they can't exchange points earned from downloads into another month(s) of free RS usage. Therefore people started uploading things to hotfile.com or other host where you can exchange downloaded points into money. For you guys it means that you'll find even less things on RS in the near future...
