    The Ultra Marines Movie

    For those of you who are fans with the Warhammer 40,000 universe, theres a straight to DVD CGI movie in the works. <Linky>

    The story is to be written by established author Dan Abnett, who has already built up a name for him self writing for the Black Libary collection. And is being directed by Martyn Pick who was the animation director for the 2009 film The Age of Stupid.

    The latest announcement is that the movie will be making history, by being the first CGI movie to use state of the art facial capture technology throughout the entire production.

    Personnaly I can't wait for its release.

    Hmmm, sceptical for now, this could go horribly wrong, and though the Ultramarines are technically the best marine and all, I think they could have chosen a more interesting chapter, everything is always about Ultramarines.

    No way is it the first movie to do this, Andy Serkis would probably go on a kill spree reading this, look at LOTR and King Kong.

    DVD movies are rarely good, though knowing how good a writer Dan Abnett is, I still have some hope for the movie. Though there are chapters with better story lines out there, UM's are by far the most recognised.

    Shyne, in case you miss read, The Ultra Marines movie isn't going to be like LOTR and King Kong, its going to be more like the DOW2 intro scene, and it will be the first movie of that kind to use such trechnology.

    its not going to be a movie on one of the books, but Dan Abnett wrote the story/ script for it, so it should be good

    He's a great writer sure but that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be a great script, afaik he's never written a screenplay before.

    Ok John Hurt, Terence Stamp and Sean Pertwee are making me cautiously excited about this.

    And for those who haven't heard yet, THQ are making a 3rd person action game for WH40K too and it looks awesome sauce, have a look;

    true, however he has written plenty of amazing novels for Black Library, including the Ultramarine series;

    I've never read any of the Warhammer books, but I used to play when I was a lot younger. I also really enjoyed the intro movie to Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. I just hope they don't spoil it, but looks like there only just starting so a long wait till it's ready.
