Stargate Universe

ANyone else been watching this?

I'm a big fan of sci-fi and I enjoyed the SG1, and to an extent Atlantis, but SGU is very annoying. Theyve attempted to make it more gritty and real, but seem to have failed miserably.

I've seen about 5 episodes now and have some major issues.

1) Everyone is bloody unprofessional. These SG Special Forces are supposed to be the best of the best, so why do none of them have any combat experience it seems, and all start going mental when they're on the ship, yeah I get it, they're lost and all that, but chain of command seems to be as organised as a nursery.
2) Robert Carlyle. Is not the savior of mankind. Sky One keeps banging on about him being amazing, he was in like that one film. Well done. He may be the star but his acting seems to be on par with everyone else.
3) Everyone is cast as either a dick, moron or and idiot.
4) SGU = SG + BSG + ST:V. Imaginative.
5) Just because your a US Senator doesn't make you god, this is so damn stereotypical. "I'm a senator damnit you cant treat me like this" sigh. oh no.
6)... there are more but if no one watches the show they wont get my ranting.
7) You just know theres going to be some kinda parasitic enemy. Gouald had symbiotes, the Warith were space-vampires and the Ori needed religious zealots.

Liked Stargate:Atlantis until the series started focusing only on Ancient technology.
Loved normal stargate. I am a big fan of the series.
But what panzer said is correct. From what i've heard from the series, it could have been much more...Kind of a let down.

As for the human nemesis on this series, don't make assumptions. They might be far from parasitic (remember the Genii and the Replicatores) as there were lots of nemesis that didn't fit that category.

See a few more episodes Panzer, and tell us some more about them.
Who knows? The series might improve as it develops. Or not...

If it hasn't got jack o'niell kicking ass or sam carter waving her ass in it I'm not interested!

I watched all the first series......i wasn't expecting much from it, but it has kept me entertained enough. ^^

Yeah I also watched the SG series and SGU since its been released.

I agree on Carlyle, he is very much a limited actor it seemed after the first 5-6 episodes, however by the time we reach the end of the season I could just about see how twisted he was and how he would screw everyone on the shipif given the chance to uncover some new technology. My fingers are crossed for a bit quicker character development soon.

I'm not a fan of the fat geek kid. OK so he unlocked some cryptic puzzle using ancient language on a game.... it doesn't make him instantly able to master all of the ancient technology. Add to that he's fecking annoying.


Finally the communication stones - seriously it doesn't add anything to the show other than to allow O'niell to pop up as a cameo a few times to keep the ratings up.

Come on panzer share your other issues with it.

456) Why the hell is the medic woman a) totally useless and b) wearing crap loads of carefully applied makeup and nice hair.

I'm pretty sure most army medics are able to cope with battle wounds such as goring, exit holes, heavy bleeding etc, but she seems only trained enough to dish out some Calpol and ask where it hurts. Makeup: I know actors wear makeup, even if theyre going for the 'this character doesnt wear makeup' look, but shes dolled up to the nines. Looks like shes going to hit the town once they get back from their 9billion light year trip home, what the hell? Where is her make up coming from? When does she have the time to be doing her hair, and since when did the army allow woman to slap it on? ****e.

no....cos it's rubbish! got bored after seeing the first dozen episodes! lol

I'm still watching it Thrasher, although getting it off the net so an episode ahead i think.

Unfortunately I need my fix of SciFi and this is almost the only show that fits that these days.

Can't say I'm massively into it but it'll do.

i find im just watching it becuase A) theres nothing else on, on a tuesday night and B) hoping like hell its going to go some where. But if it is going some were its doing it really slowly.
