From what I read it only affects new style PS3's. Sounds like Sony tried to update something on the PSN backend ready to start charging for access (like Xbox Live) and somethings gone a little wrong.
Let's hope that it doesn't turn your PS3 into a brick.
Yeah, I heard this in school today, Looks like the whole of the PSN is down
I hope it gets fixed soon (if they can fix it)
Sounds serious, Sony must really be panicking at the moment. Can anyone confirm whether it actually bricks the console?
From what I've read it doesn't brick the console, it just blocks older PS3's (anything but the new Slim models) from accessing PSN. Sony are working on a solution. If it did brick PS3's then Sony would have one hell of a big problem.
I used mine yesterday and it worked fine, played at about 9pm GMT if that makes a difference. My Ps3 is one of the 'fat' ones.
I used mine this morning at 10am and then at 12am (mine is the fat PS3), I'm going to turn it on again in a min. I got a new game today, White Knight Chronicles, which I've been waiting to play since frigging Friday, so I'll be damned into hell if this doesn't work. I'll give you an update of what happens.
