its the Expansion pack to Empire: total war, so the basic engine and mechanics are already in place and work.

I'm a pretty big history buff, particuarly the nepoleonic wars, so seeing thier getting the little unform details right is cool (things like the Spanish wearing white coats, or the birtish light cav and royal Artillery in blue). vague dislike of the misuse of the word 'rifle' (which techincallly refers to a special type of gun not common then), but forgivable considering it's likey a slip of the tounge due to the universal use of the word today for longarms (which is correct, since they are rilfes).

can't comment on the gameplay form that video, though. I've never used my horse arty like that in empire, but i don't play on the harder diffcultires, so it may be a trait picked up thier. his formations seemed thicker than i (or history) would have played it, but hey, it's his game.

Like how they let the british win, though.

oddly i loved Rome total war and have played all versions of the totalwar games, Empire was too big for my liking and me and raven need a new clashing game, so hoping this is it! this isn't an expansion its a standalone game as medieval kingdoms was so no need for Empire folks ( if you are not aware folks )

rifles refer the Hompesch rifle used by my favourite of that time THE GREEN JACKETS!!!!! whooop!

    bit of info

Later during the Napoleonic Wars, the British 95th Regiment (Green Jackets) and 60th Regiment, (Royal American) as well as American sharpshooters and riflemen during the War of 1812 used the rifle to great effect during skirmishingLater during the Napoleonic Wars, the British 95th Regiment (Green Jackets) and 60th Regiment, (Royal American) as well as American sharpshooters and riflemen during the War of 1812 used the rifle to great effect during skirmishing

love skirmishers, liking the improvements over empire on this, using a story line and adding smaller victory conditions.

p.s xerxes i never used my artillery like that either, which is why ravenhome used to smash the living hell out of me on some maps, actually i am useless with artillery lol.........miss my Rome days of forming spear/shield walls

indeed. I am well aware of the linage of the 95th (after all, thier like one of the only regiments left) and their useage of baker rilfes. Bbut the point that the rilfes were CALLED the rilfes reinforces my point, as a rilfe was not a common weapon at that point in time. their was a single battlion of the 95th at waterloo. plus the light companies of the Kings German legion and maybe the 60th (not sure if they were thier).

out of some 200,000 plus soldiers on the field at waterloo, i;d be suprised if more than 5,000 had rifled weapons. the VAST majority of the guns used were smoothborre muskets,

I've always used my cannon as battalion guns, fighting alongside the main line. a single battery can totally change the balance of firepower in a slugging match. that grapshot just shreds them. It's also really useful when being peppered by bloody native american archers.

Not sure what rifle troops the french had? i know all the allied british troops

hope you watched sharpe at least :]

the one thing i find odd is, will the british be able to lay down as they did at waterloo to avoid cannon fire - doubt it lol - as its one of the historic battles available - seemingly there are far more maps to battle on now and they have stepped up seige warfare.

The glaring historical innacuracies are what i dislike about all the TW games. The mods that are made are far better than the games themselves for what im after from a historical wargame.

true loved SPQR for rome and you are right about the historic problems, but they are aimed at everyone so they have to stick to a playable/balanced template............but hey ho lets hope this is good

    i want rome 2 :[
