I think EA are doing server maintenance today Vimes starting at 8am so I wouldn't expect to be able to play BC2 until after lunch.

I know about that one, but over the last few days (since Sunday) I've had real problems getting the server list to appear just says " Failed to Connect"

AH right yeah - well most people are having this problem its down to EA's servers basically not being able to handle the amount of players. They are working on it apparently but so it will get better.

Just look at the BFBC2 article and put BFB in your favourites so you don't need to use the server browser

lol maintenance i can imagine some tard/nub that works for EA saying "lads it seems the last few hours the server has been stable, scedule a imediate maintenance so we can maintaine our poor server performance" then he leaves to get his 17th coffe since starting work 53 mins ago lol

Ha! Now, now, zool. Have faith!

Btw, thanks to Vimes for starting this thread - I've been having the exact same problem and it was seriously p*ssing me off. It's good to know I'm not alone!

Just been on now maintance is over and seems to be working, the server list is coming up without any problems, but that could just be fluke so will try again later. Fingers crossed that I won't be getting that annoying "Failed to connect" again!

What ports should I open for multiplayer if I’m having connectivity trouble?
(from EA UK forums) how to port forward

    port 18390 TCP Outgoing
    port 18395 TCP Outgoing
    port 18395 UDP Outgoing
    port 13505 TCP Outgoing
    port 80 TCP Outgoing
    **Unconfirmed**
UDP 22000 (This is only for LAN)
    UDP range 23000-23009
    # GameSpy Master Server UDP Heartbeat: Allow UDP Port 27900
    # GameSpy Master Server List Request: Allow TCP Port 28900

    Server Browser Tips

To help speed up your server browsing these tips can help you get results quicker.
    • Use Favourites/History when possible
If you use the server browser then when it starts to search click CANCEL

    Select the options:
    • Ranked
    • Not Full
    • Not Empty
    • No Password
    • Leave Punkbuster checked
    • Hit Refresh
You can use your friends list in game to connect on them without accessing the server browser.
Also the filter is case sensitive. To look for a specific server open the server browser hit cancel and then add the text of the server you are looking for in the filter.
For example to look for our servers you can type “bfb-online.com” or in the filter and it will be faster than a full refresh (as has been pointed out by Dragon) OR alternatively use the out-of-game method posted in the other thread.
Connectivity Problems or Server List with very few servers
    Open Your ports
    check your firewall and antivirus
Connection lost , can’t join games or see friends online, any other server browser problems
Try closing BFBC2 and opening it up again (make sure it closes as it always doesn’t)
delete all values for Recent Games and Favorites in your gamesettings.ini file in your mydoc BFBC2 folder
Also try manually updating your game by going to your bc2 install folder and running eaupdater.exe or bfbc2update.exe
