I LOVED the first deus ex. it was the best combination of FPS and RPG i ever seen in a game.
Deus ex 2 was kinda weak compared to the first one but i am hoping 3 will be more like the original.
aye agreed, it was strange that even when i went back with its dated graphics etc, it still does the business - not sure how they managed to make such a great game
I'm with both of you - DX1 was amazing, the best game I have ever played. Even with the terrible graphics (by today's standards, and not great even when it came out) I still find the game absolutely gripping and can't tear myself away from it. I can't even count the number of times that I've played through it.
Personally I thought DX2 was actually brilliant as well; It wasn't quite the same kind of game as the first but the story line was fairly solid and it was a fun, intriguing game. It just lacked the elements of conspiracy and darkness which made the first game so successful.
I can't help but think that with Warren Spector out of the equation, the third game isn't quite going to live up to all our hopes. I'm very tempted to think that they're going to just chuck out another typical RPG game with a decent storyline that is designed to cater for all types of gamers. If they do so, everyone will be satisfied. However, if they go down the route of DX1 and make a more specialised game targeted at fans of the series, it will go down a storm.
Another reason DX1 was so amazing was the voice-acting and story-telling. It put you, the player, in complete control of your path and in my opinion it stayed entirely credible throughout. Hopefully DX3 won't be as full of clichéd action-movie lines as the teaser might suggest...
