I know you ppl out there think that I may be mentally insane...this proves it!

Basically I video'd my journey home from work...and ......mash it up with a beatles track and ....et voila!

I think you'll find that roughly 1/4 to 1/3 of the worlds countries drive on the left hand side my friend. During the reign of the British Empire (which had owned 1/4 of the WORLD's mass) their colonies would have obviously driven/rode on the left hand side. In fact many countries switched over from left-hand drive after being liberated (The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria) and after the First World War (Austria, the Czech Republic etc.).

So really we've just been doing what everyone has done for the past few centuries!

I once heard that driving on the left actually comes from horsemen passing on the left side - i.e. the sword was held in the right hand (mostly) and when passing a stranger on the road, it was advisable to have your sword between you and the stranger.

Moreover I guess that driving on the left side of the road is easier when you're on an island : You get out of a ferry, and you know in which side you have to drive.

Otherwise you have to do a complicated system of roads, as for the junction between Hong Kong and China ...

Yeah, I also heard that was a big reason why everyone walked on the left hand side of a path too. Makes sense if you think about it!

....but if you notice.....i am abidextrous...i can drive on the left side of the road...and wave with my right hand.....i think i was born like that!

I heard (in scouts) that they shake using the left hand as the masai warriors used to do likewise as they had to put done their shields to do so - indicating a sign of trust....would make sense if we should with the right going along with the sword reason
