    wth??

I got kicked off the server tonight for a VIP!?

When did we start kicking bfb members for other bfb members? Is this the new theme.....don't kick randoms for members just kick the members?

I'm pretty pis**d off about it tbh. I know i'm not around to start the server every night, no I haven't made any donatiuons recently...but I am still a member of bfb and would've thought that would of counted for something!?

    Slightly confused and quite bitter.

    Wasn't me

You sure it was a kick? I get disconnected at least twice a round, but that's not kicks.

I always check who I kick when I need a space (Not -BFB-, someone who just arrived if possible). So it wasn't me. Plus I haven't kicked anyone tonight.

    [NIN EDIT] Ah ok.

I was going to wait till weets post about it but seeming you brought up first I will try and explain.

Every night there is small handful of boys who will hop on and try to get the server started. Night after night straight after work or whatever they are doing.

Sometimes it gets started sometimes it doesn't. The Vip slot is there to the members who the founder or founders who deem worthy of the slot. it will be reviewed by them every so often to make sure it not abused.

So what are you annoyed about a)you got randomly kicked by the server for a VIP or b)you didn't get the VIP status. The server selects it at random and cannot determine if you are BFB or not.

In the past you earned the tags by starting the servers, using the forums, making the donations and so on. Now that does not apply and many BFB'ers don't even help start the servers. Yet when the server is started by the same group every night then out of nowhere BFB'ers appear.

Personally and this not the opinion of BFB founders I think is not on. Yet room kicks are expected by BFB'ers in general even though some of these randomers have hopped on and stayed to help get the server started. Plenty of other clans hop on when the server is trying to start like the RTFN or Knightz clan and will stay as long as possible yet where are the BFB'ers?

what really sends me loopy is if a few members of the server starting crew is not on then there is no attempt at least in my eyes for other BFB'ers to step up to the plate and try get the server started not even for one night. it's no use saying you have work or school or the best friends mothers dog has died because all of the people who do try and start the server have the same commitments.

The VIP status has no reflection of the amount donated to the servers either. Their could be people who have never donated who could earn it if they helped start the servers on a regular basis.

And this is not aimed at you either Fireworm but a lot of members could do with a kick up the backside and hop on the server like they have a set and start the ****er.

I am sure I will get bollocked for saying all this but I hate playing on other peoples server besides one or two like the aforementioned clans above but it's a disgrace ours is empty. You lot might be bored of the game but I can't even stand it and I will hop on to try and start it. i much be rather be playing Company of Heroes.

In short, don't bitch about an random automated process by a server you don't help start.

fair enough dude. i didn't realise it was random (until you told me on ts, after staring this thread).

i'm not having a go because i don't have vip status (i understand why i don't and wouldn't expect it as i haven't been pro-active of late in regards to donations, starting servers etc).

my gripe is that as a bfb'er i don't see why i should be kicked at all (unless i break the rules), as it stands i don't reckon i'll be making much in the way of donations in future (if at all) if i'm likely to get kicked when the server is full and a vip wants on.

please don't take this as a rant, i understand now how it works.....not necessarily agree with it, but i see how it works.

The VIP slots were a feature included in the last patch. I wish I had some sort of configuration options for who it kicks, but I don't (which is a bit poo). The idea is for EVERY member to have a slot. But............

...... this boils my piss more than I can say. There's not much expected from members; donations are entirely voluntary, no posting requirements for the tag etc etc etc. The only thing I ask is for peeps to spend 10 minutes trying to get the server started. With the server lying empty week after week, we get no new members to replace those who leave, no new peeps to talk to, no interaction with each other and basically no damned point to BFB even existing.

To keep the Red/Blue teams even, I installed an inactivity thingy, which auto-magically removes peeps who've left BFB from the team and puts them back to green. It's set at 2 months. Last week 2 (active) members suddenly found themselves in the green team..... We can't even be arsed to post on the forums any more ffs.

The laziness needs to stop, or this place will die. That's how communities work, if nobody contributes then there's no benefit to anyone.

If I (or any admin) sees someone making any kind of effort to get the servers started then I'll gladly give em a VIP slot. We used to do it every day without fail on several servers, and we need to get back into the habit. I'm expecting EVERY member of BFB to have a VIP slot.

For 2 years, I've seen empty servers and watched BFB get smaller and smaller. We're about 1/20th of the size we used to be, and it used to be ace. BC2 is an excellent opportunity to build ourselves back up again. What I'm asking ain't exactly a chore, and it's to everyone's benefit.

Wow, an automated system huh? That's certainly new! It's true that during the day we really ought to help start the server if we're available to do so. I don't really play the game anymore but I'll fire up my client to update it so that I should be able to help with the server startup if I'm not in-game myself.

Is there a way you could increase the idle-kick time on the server? I try to go on there when I can but been out and about a lot lately so I'd like to leave it on while I'm doing something but it kicks after 5 to 10 mins.
