When i first got BF2 i had to play SP as i couldnt get my computer on the internet for a few weeks, and all the bots use the format: J. Smith. I wanted to avoid being grouped with all the stupid name kiddies and their wish to detach and become idiots on the internet. So W. Kosek was born, which if you dont know, is my first initial and surname. I finally droped the W in COD4.
Mine was also from BF2, my normal one I used to use was Rogue_Wulf but it was taken. So I created a variant of Dragunov SVD (sniper rifle).
Oh dear lol.. RuneScape year 2001. I'm thinking of changing it now though. A little childish tbh.
I have two online names: xerxes and Stormbringer
I aquired Stormbringer first. when I was joining my first forum, I was looking around for insperation for both a name that was vaguely rememberable (IE not brad32432 or whatever), and a suitable sig . as it happened, i was listening to deep purple, and in particular a song called Stormbringer
so, I used the song title for my username and the first verse as my sig block, which worked so well i still use it a lot.
Xerxes, now, was a name I got form my mother, of all people. WAYYYYYYYYYYY back in mid 1987, when she was pregant with me, she was looking though a baby names book and came accross the then-obscure name xerxes. She fell in love with it, and it was only a determined effort by my father that i she was talked out of it. As my father argued, while an adult would find the name exotic and cool, a 5 year old would hate it with a passion, and would likey get picked on in school with a name like that.
So, I got a nice, boring christian name, and then, one day in late 2004, when i was hiking up a hill in the lakes with my mother, she related this story to me. Upon my return to colleage, I told my mates, who, being a bunch of fellow geeks, thought it was ace and started calling me it. until 300 came out, nobody had heard of the name before, and now everyone thinks i took it form 300 (which i didn't. I took it form the same place 300 took it form)
so, that;s how i got my usernames
Well my dad just made it up for me, wanted my own BF2 name so he made it up for me and i was happy with it![]()
Goes back to Battlefield 1942 days at lan party's, it was noted that everytime I got in the tank it was bedlam so kind of stuck...
Well - as like most people I have two. I have Asena... which came from playing too much Baldurs Gate II and sadly naming my mage... that name has stuck though, Its my Xbox live tag, is used on WoW (yes I played WoW, don't hate me)... pretty much anything other than this...
Which leads me to Chewy or Chew. Back in Secondary school, my year 10 maths teacher was of African origin, and had a strong accent. As a result, I was called Macchew, rather than Matthew. I heard the phrase "Macchew, you do your work or I penalize you". Good times. Told my housemates this, Chewy / Chew stuck. I now answer to it, and to add to insult - they make wookie noises at me.![]()
Haha! *grins*
My nickname is a load of wang, but I've stuck with it ever since I signed up on the EA Sports website when I was roughly 12. It was originally crafted by a guy who lives down the road from me, who I used to play football with when I was younger - it's all he ever called me and it kind of stuck. Easiest choice for websites and games, too, as AFAIK it's unique to me.![]()
