DIY Qualifications.

I've decided to try and get myself a Microsoft Certified qualification. G told me I should go for MCDST, it tells me to get the qualification i need to pass exams 70-271 and 70-272.

This raises afew questions for me:

• What will I need to help me study for these exams?
• When will I ahve to pass the exams by?
• How do I book the exams?
• If I pass one exam is there a certain period of time in which I ahve to pass the second one?

Put the exam codes into Amazon and look for the self paced study books, I've used the Microsoft ones in the past and find them easy to follow. Everything you need will be in the book, although you might find it useful to install Virtual PC on your PC so you can install a copy of Windows XP that you can play with. All my books have come with a 20% voucher for the exams which was good, or Microsoft often do a second chance offer where if you fail the exam on the first attempt you can retake it for free.

You will have to pass the exams before Microsoft discontinues them, they usually give plenty of notice about that.

You can book your exams online at the Prometric website, you just serach for your local test centre and select the exam you want to do.

Once you've passed your first exam you have until they discontinue the second exam.
