PC vs Apple

I'll start this off by explaining the origins of my long-standing and utter hatred of Apple... Many moons ago I went on a little shopping trip to PC World to get myself a new mouse and, perhaps, a matching keyboard. Upon entering the store, I noticed a new display... Apple. Intrigued by the large glossy monitors, I wandered over to investigate the new geeky delights on offer. I stopped 10 feet from the counter having noticed the mouse. "A mouse with one button.." I mutter to myself, "Heresy!". I swiftly walk away shaking my head in disbelief as the Apple salesman looks at me with a pet shop puppy sadness in his eyes.
Then, for some inexplicable resaon, Apple became popular. But not with normal people. Was it just me, or were people who owned Apple devices of any nature appear to be complete arseholes? Sitting on trains, I noticed posh people whipping out a bright white ipod out of their pocket, hold it aloft like some kind of ceremonial chalice and, after making sure the entire world was watching, make some wierd thumb gesture to skip tracks before placing it gently (with the care one would take with a baby unicorn) on the table, making damned sure it was still in view to his 'envious' neighbours. Tosser.
Next thing to get on my nerves was the bullcrap from the afore mentioned arseholes. Forums everywhere were suddenly awash with claims of how vastly superior the Apple OS was to Windows. "Apple Macs are immune to viruses" they'd shout.....
**cough**
No, Macs are immune to viruses only cos nobody bothers making Mac viruses due to the pathetically small user base. And then came iTunes for Windows the program which, despite options and tick boxes configured meticulously to the contrary, done whatever the **** it wanted. Yes, I am a fully certified member of the glorious PC gaming master race. I would even put Apple useres beneath console gamers, as at least we have the Xbox to thank for the amazing XBMC.
Apple users are all a bunch of utter basta..... wait... what's this?
Some arsehole's went and put a crappy Mac in my room!!!
"Why?????" I hear you lot scream. Well, I suppose I'd just see what all the fuss was about. With my annual bonus burning a hole in my pocket, I trotted into the Apple store and spent a half hour playing about before taking the plunge. AND I'M GLAD I DID.
Despite my prejudices, after a couple of hours of perseverance to get past the initial diffuculties in the UI differences, and I have to say OSX is an absolute joy to use. Even on a platter drive, it's nippy and responsive in a way that Windows can only dream of even with the added advantage of an SSD. Add multi-touch gestures, multiple desktops and automatic hourly backups and OSX is in a totally different league to Windows. Admittedly, Apple only have to cater for their own stuff rather than the infinate configurations that can be thrown at Windows, so credit to Microsoft for that.
The Mac has all but replaced my PC for general browsing and email, but it's main purpose now is BFB site updates;
It'll never replace my PC as a gaming platform or for video encoding, as the software library is a little sparse in those areas, and I also like the fun of building.
So after all of this would I recommend a Mac? iWhey man![]()
