OMG it looking more and more like they've destroyed Supreme Commander...... and why cause some console kiddies want to play it for 10 mins realise its to hard for them even though its been dumbed so 6yr olds can play it.

Just feels like were being given Duplo to play when were fully qualified architechs.

Seriously the names of the bot which sucks in bots and destroys them by smashing them together... Pulinsmash or something. What a load of rubbish. This could well be the shortest lived franchise ever.

Liking the look of this game less and less every video I see of it. Pity because supcom2 should of been epic but it looks like its for kids.

Maybe they should of made supcom 1.5 instead.

Hope I'm wrong but I'm definitely not pre-ordering.

I've pre-ordered and gonna stick with it. I'm hoping its better than itlooks. I will of course let you guys know.

Fingers crossed!!

Im almost 95% sure they are releasing a demo of the game before release date so any of us who are still on the fence about it can have a play before commiting to buy!

Info taken from the live chat with Chris Taylor on BestBuy (http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Supreme-Commander-2-Developer/ch-p/SupremeCommander2Chat).

Also the steam pre-order has just gone live - not in europe for another 3 days!

Good stuff. I'll try it out then - still reckon this game is going to be awesome though, I watched a vid of it quite a while ago and it looked absolutely fantastic so hopefully they're just fiddling about with new stuff at the moment.

unseen that looks like a low rez image watch the videos in hd looks better must admit the design on some of the new units is rubbish but the tweaks on orginal unit look quite nice expected mush better from gpg and squae enix but seems they not trying all that hard or focusing to much on a console port :(

Demo is good fun, ran it with 16Q AA and 16 AF flawlessly, nothing like Unseen's pic it looks very nice in a basic way, nothing fancy but good enough to enjoy. Gameplay was very cool, upgrades and research bring a lot more.

ReaperRSX

Ok so I've now played the demo for a bit but by no means extensively (only 2 missions anyway)

And my overall thoughts are it could have been a great sequal to SC 1, It really could have been. This is just based on the new upgrade system. If they simply added that to the old game what a great game it could have been. You would then have your 'normal' economy system with the added need to build up research points. I say normal economy because it seems like the economy has been completely dumbed down for the console guys.

This seriously takes a massive part of what I enjoyed about the previous game and wraps it up in a straight jacket so that no one can enjoy it. Just think now playing a 20 min no rush game and all you do is spam energy and research stations without the need to think about what resources you have, or run the risk of running out of energy or mass and crippling your economy for 5 mins which could easily ruin your game.

But!!!!! we come back to the research system, the saving grace of the game. It creates so many more options than the previous game had, the only problem i see is that when do we ever play navy??? so that removes the navy tab. When do we use our ACU other than sitting in our base building? so thats another tab not needed. This only leaves 3 tabs to unlock and its hard to see how that would really effect how strong or attacking your units are. (although we've not seen the entire tree branch of land units so I await to be shocked and impressed)

Finally we come down the the niggles of the game. These are all the little things which will the piss the hell out of me for eternity or until they're patched. Some continue from SC1 but many are brand new to SC2.

Bots do not leave little tracks in the ground anymore (backwards step in graphics after what 2 yrs???? Thanks console guys)

Route finding - hard to say its improved but the side effect of it si that all the units 'skid' around the map instead of driving or walking. I saw a battleship slide sideways through water before instead of turning like it normally wound and go forward or back. Also saw tanks somehow slide at a 90 degree angle to their tracks - again very impressive if it wasn't so unrealistic.

You can't set large groups of units to face a set direction. Previous game you could click and drag a spot on a map so that they faced the right direction, now you simply can't. Spent 5 in trying to get 10 tanks to line up in a striaght line facing a bridge instead of facing rock face...... stupid just stupid!!! did these developers every play SC1?????

The unit graphics do look very much like Fisher-Price toys although maybe part to the bright blue and yellow colours of the UEF, and they did seem blocky although i haven't tried it on 16x16 AA AF.

Unit sizes are off, - COMPLETELY. An engineer is the same size of my commander, and is bigger than all ground units, and half the size of some experimentals. WTF!!!!! I might as well build an army of engi's and try and scare the opposition to surrender with the pure size of my army.

Add to this engineers can't assist other engi's. This completely screws up any building system. But why have they done this....... oh yes because of the bloodyt console kids!!!! ARG!!!!!!!!
Now when you select 2 engi's you can't build anything you have to select them individually. Even when they are building you can't get another one to help to speed things up, but engi's can assist your commander.... completely RANDOM!!!

Further to this when engi's do help the commnder it isn't clear as the grpahics mess up and don't show any lazers from the engi's so you kinda guessing its working. And half the time when things are building including factories building units they don't show a bar telling you how far it has done. So a factory could be bulding your experimental but you have no idea when it will be done unless you have a stop watch next to you and you start it as you've clicked to build it. (Reaper goes off to buy shares in stopwatch manufacturers)

Overall a dissapoitment but I though SC:FA was the best RTS game I've ever played and have been preparing myself for dissapointment since the first video release of SC2 so I'm not to shocked.

I would say the game now does open itself up to a much wider audience as you don';t have to spend hours working our the optimum 20 min build order with 4,5,6,7,8 mass points.

I'm not gonna cancle my pre-order mainly cause as I've already said SC:FA was the best RTS ever IMHO and its only fair I give its successor a fair play.

Agree on pretty much all points reaps, apart from 1 - not going to buy it :(

I loved supcom1 but this hasn't bought over any of the things I liked about it.

Completed the 2 demo missions yesterday. Left me feeling a bit empty tbh.

Yes the graphics do look blocky but the performance has been optimized greatly since SC1, tried running FA maxed out on my rig yesterday and still couldnt keep up with big battles.. I can see how they have followed the CnC route with a more cartoony/ loud colours vibe

What I really loved about SC1 was the competitive games and watching peoples build orders/ the REAL TIME STRATEGY and obviously the changes youve mentioned are going to affect this heavily. If it leads to an altogether dumbed down game and less community following i wont be buying it.

I have BC2 to keep me occupied for a while so ill be waiting on a price drop/ see whether a lot of you guys buy into it

This and the change to the economy are the most annoying things I reckon. The other bits like unit movement and not being able to set formations seem unnecessarily weird, but you could live with it - maybe they'd (or already have) add/fix these bits...

Graphics are a bit odd, but I don't mind too much. UEF seems to be the most cartoony, like you said.

Just been playing the demo. It ran flawlessly on full graphics on my ageing rig - E8200 @ 4GHz, GTX 260 Core-192.

I thought it was pretty fun, in a way it seemed more exciting than SC1 although I haven't played that much either. The graphics and animations are superb and the fast gameplay kept things moving.

It seems pretty good to me, but my god I am awful at strategy games!

I know its release is going to be over-shadowed by bad company for a lot of us but how many have bought this/ plan on buying compared to CnC4?

Only 1 day left and not much hype about it which cant be a good sign..

Personally don't find either CnC4 or supcom2 to be as good as the games before them. Gotta say that even though the online ranking system in CnC4 is a stupid idea it is still more fun to play than supcom2.

OK so i have SC2 and played a couple of games of MP last night.

Does seem like the deelopers have all had the same idea with smaller maps and simpler systems. The usual maps are there Field of isis and seton clutch. But obviously a fair bit smaller.

Once i have more games i'll let you know how it goes but its not going to be better than SC:FA or COH, i can tell you that already

So my suggestion is we all install forged alliance again.....
