View Full Version : Website up and Running
Finally got round to getting some kind of website put together and had to get of my ass since i'm approaching some new companies next week for possible work. Its not exactly ideal as its just a wordpress blog used for a portfolio, but tbh its the best i could hope to get as I wouldnt know where to start myself and cant afford to pay for a website to be made for me.
I suppose it more just so clients can get to see more of my images as due to their size, i cant really send many over email.
Let me know if anything jumps out at you as being wrong.

Awesome, the header looks very swish and professional.
Just a very minor thing, I noticed you missed a letter when you typed 'snaphot' at the very bottom of your visualisations page below the montage. Other than that everything works and reads great, nicely done ;)
Thanks, i've noticed a few spelling mistakes in addition to that one, i'll need to give it a proper proof read.

It looks really nice mate, but just a couple of things which I might suggest if I may.
'certianly' need to be corrected near the end.
And it may be a tiny bit long if an employer was to visit your website, he/she probably isn't going to read the whole thing.
I would place a small collage of your work, an image or a photo of yourself on the front page. Arriving to only text is a little cold of an entrance.
Another alternative to wordpress is Weebly (http://www.weebly.com/). I knocked up this site for my friend (http://magicmatthew.weebly.com/) in about 20mins with some photoshopping. It can upload to a hosted site, or provide you with a free blah.weebly.com address.
Cheers Sinnyowns.
Quite like the tip about the front page Panzer, i kinda knew there was something up with it, but couldnt place my finger on it, but i think youve nailed it. Also i'll need to look into that weebly as that website you linked to is quite smart. Nicr than the one i have for sure.

For an open source website, you really can't whack Joomla (http://www.joomla.org/). For a library, you really should be looking at a Content Management System, rather general website software as it allows you to highlight your most marketable work. There's also plugins such as lightbox which allows images to be opened either in a box or on a Joomla page, rather than an an empty page with a single image on it. Using a custom site also gives a greater impression of creativity and general geek know-how.
I would also recommend you knock up a PDF portfolio for peeps to download, print and hand to their gaffers.
Cheers for the info, i'll have a look round these other websites and see what i can come up with.
And yeah a printable portfolios a good idea.

Do not put a photo of yourself on the front page mate. It's hard enough to get work as it is :-)
Looks really good m8.

Looks good - without reading anything or clicking anything and based purely on a first glance, I'd remove the left float from the main content so it doesn't drop below the search box. At the moment the gap between the menu and the first header is quite wide.
This is very good, I've seen a visualisations before for architectural purposes as I work in building industry, and these are very good, well done.
